Bowls International have just announced that it is to launch a new project to recognise the contribution made by the many ‘Unsung Heroes’ in the world of bowls.

Together with Co-operative Funeralcare, Bowls International are looking for the ‘Unsung Hero 2015’

Bowling clubs across the UK rely on volunteers to keep their clubs operating smoothly. People who ensure that the greens are maintained, look after membership fees, organise events or transport, work in the bar, make the tea – all just for the love of bowls.

Now those people can get the recognition they deserve through the Bowls International Unsung Heroes Award.

Simply nominate your ‘Unsung Hero’ and both the club and the individual can benefit.

Every nomination will receive a mention in Bowls International, and every month one nominee will be featured in the magazine. Sian Honnor, the editor of Bowls International said that the added incentive for clubs included picking up prizes such as mats and scorecards if one of their members is the featured nominee. A monthly presentation will also be made to the featured individual and to their club.

Nominations can be made until February 2016 when voting will take place for the overall 2015 Unsung Hero. The winner will receive a VIP trip to an event sponsored by The Co-operative Funeralcare, as well as other goodies.
