We came across a great article in this month’s Bowls International magazine about a groom who wanted to play bowls on his wedding day.
The wedding party were down from Ireland, and a group including the groom, the best man, the ushers and some family members booked a green at Four Marks Bowls Club for the morning of the wedding. Bowls on your wedding day – what else is there to do?
None of the group had ever bowled before, and two of the Four Marks coaches, Beryl and Anthea put together four fun games for the party, and gave them a crash course in bowling.
The four games played were:
- Down a Pint
- Ditch the Bridesmaid
- On Target
- Sink a Putt
…and no, we don’t know either!
It took the group 10 minutes to get the hang of it, and then there was 90 minutes of fierce rivalry and much hilarity. The group of 11 included 90 year old Grandad who played bare feet. After the morning’s bowling the group headed back to ready themselves for the wedding in the afternoon.
Feedback from the groom was that they could not have found a better way to spend the pre-wedding morning.
We think this is such a great idea, especially for groups of such varied ages and interests. Well done Four Marks Bowls Club
